Janet Hicks

Dean, School of Arts and Sciences | Professor, English and Communications

In Dr. Janet Hicks' English and communication courses, students learn to examine literature from a biblical worldview and how to articulate their beliefs. Dr. Hicks believes teaching is not just a career, but a ministry.

Hicks is a commissioner for the Association for Biblical Higher Education, as well as a member of the National Council of Teachers of English and the Pennsylvania Association of Colleges and Teacher Educators. She has experience in curriculum development and teaching high school, and Dr. Hicks' research is in teaching grammar and writing.

Hicks also leads women’s Bible classes at her local church. Her favorite passage of Scripture is Hebrews 12:1–2, and her favorite novel is "Ivanhoe" by Walter Scott.

Teaching is an important ministry and a life-consuming activity. Working with students as they grow in the things of God and as they develop professionally challenges me each day to be current, relevant and faithful to the Lord.
