Love your neighbor. We never thought this Scriptural command would include revoking an invitation for friends to join us on campus for time in God’s Word. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the best way we could love our neighbors and protect those who are most at risk is to postpone two much-anticipated events on the CSU campus. Under the guidance of the CSU Response Team, the committees for both LYFE Women’s Conference and the Man Up! 18-hour event have decided to postpone these 2020 events.
Both LYFE and Man Up! are not simply cancelling. The entire events are being rolled over into 2021. Those who have already registered are now rolled over into this 2021 registration, including housing reservations and waiting lists for on-campus accommodations. Registrants do not need to do anything; the rollover is automatic.
Man Up! 18-hour event
Man Up! will now be held on May 14–15, 2021. The featured speaker will remain Pat Williams, senior vice president of Orlando Magic and former general manager of the Chicago Bulls, Atlanta Hawks and Philadelphia 76ers.
LYFE Women’s Conference
The next in-person LYFE Women’s Conference will be held May 28–29, 2021. Author and speaker Sheila Walsh will still be the keynote speaker. Attendees will still get to worship in concert with Dove-award-winning artist Ginny Owens. Breakout sessions will still be offered.
On May 30, when this year’s LYFE Conference was originally scheduled, the first-ever, live simulcast LYFE event will take place. In this livestream event, ladies around the globe can join online to hear all-time-favorite LYFE speakers in three live sessions. Sherrie Holloway, Joanna Arp and Sherry Boykin will speak on the simulcast theme: I AM.
At a time when circumstances feel more uncertain than ever, the conference will help ladies direct their focus on the One who is constant and caring. When Christians choose to look on the character of Christ, they can be confident in the great I AM. When God refers to Himself as I AM, He reminds the heroes of faith that only He is eternal, not bound by time and circumstance, unchanging.
A letter to LYFE ladies from Conference Director Diane Lytle states, “LYFE 2020 will not be the gathering of 1,000 ladies together in one place like we had planned. Instead, God is allowing LYFE 2020 to reach tens of thousands of ladies around the globe through this virtual, live simulcast format with the message of the great I AM. It’s not what we had envisioned a few short weeks ago, but it is something to praise God for and to ask that He bless it in spreading His love far and wide to our sisters in Christ around the world.”
Other Summer Events
While the CSU Response Team is actively monitoring developments regarding COVID-19 as related to other upcoming campus events. Events happening later in the summer, such as Teen Leadership Conference, are still on the schedule.
