Sharon Wilson Retires after 22 Years of Faithful Service

Published February 21, 2020 in News

There are always people working ‘behind the scenes’ at Clarks Summit University who contribute to the school’s success. Sharon Wilson, who has worked in the Registrar’s Office since October of 1998, has been one of these people. Wilson retired from her position as assistant registrar earlier this year. Her dedicated service and encouraging attitude have been exceptional during her 22 years of service.

“Sharon has been a vital part of the Registrar’s Office for many years. Her experience and love for students have been valuable assets to the CSU family in her time here,” says Dr. Bill Higley, vice president for academics. In celebration of her time at CSU, a reception was held, and she was acknowledged in chapel Dr. Jim Lytle, president of CSU, for her exemplary service. He told her: “it is people like this- people like you- that love students so much…that make this place what it is.”

Wilson has had close connections to CSU throughout her life. Her parents both attended Baptist Bible Seminary when it was still located in Johnson City, New York, and she is an alumna. She earned her associate degree studying Elementary Education. After graduating and serving in local church ministry, she returned to CSU to work in the Registrar’s Office, where she has handled a diverse array of tasks, ranging from computer data entry to administration.

Wilson has greatly enjoyed her time at CSU. “It has been a blessing from the Lord to serve at Clarks Summit University,” she says. She will miss the faculty, staff and interacting with the students most. Of the students, she adds, “it has been much a pleasure to get to know them and have them share their goals and life situations with me.” Her plans for retirement include devoting more time to studying and memorizing Scripture and visiting with friends and family.

Her co-workers appreciated Wilson’s gift of encouragement. Higley says, “She exemplifies the heart and habits that CSU is about: serving Christ, serving others and always with a spirit of joy and enthusiasm.”

Wilson will continue to work part-time as the transition is made for her departure, and she plans to help direct more students to CSU during her retirement. Clarks Summit University has greatly appreciated all of Wilson’s outstanding work through the years. Her joyful encouragement and Christ-like service have been greatly appreciated.
