Since the Master of Arts is practical, theologically saturated and achievable in such a short period of time, it’s an ideal degree for those who teach or lead small groups in the local church, speakers, writers, ministry leaders and anyone who wants a deeper understanding of the Bible and how to lead in their churches and families.

Quick Facts about Baptist Bible Seminary’s Master of Arts Program

  • You can customize it. Specialize your Master of Arts degree in one of seven areas of biblical knowledge, listed below. 15 credit hours of core courses establish your foundational understanding of God’s Word. Choose a concentration to build on this core that fits your ministry goals. To meet your individual interests even more specifically, you’ll take advantage of built-in electives within each concentration.
  • You can attain it. The Master of Arts, with most concentrations, is a 30-credit-hour, affordable degree you can earn in just two years. The Biblical Languages concentration, which gives you the full spectrum of language study, can be completed in three years.
  • You can apply it. Since you can choose from a wide range of programs, you can immediately apply what you’re learning to your own ministry, while you reach for higher ministry goals.
  • You can build on it. When you’re ready to pursue the next level of education, you’ll be a step ahead. The Master of Arts degree fits into Baptist Bible Seminary’s Master of Divinity program, and it can also qualify you to continue your studies in Baptist Bible Seminary’s Doctor of Ministry program.

Academic study of theology meets authentic spiritual growth and practical application in the Theological Studies concentration within this fully accredited, 30-credit-hour, online master of arts degree. You’ll complete focused study on Christ, salvation and His church as you expand your theological foundation and build with electives that match your interests.

Your ability to understand, articulate and defend Scripture and theological truths will increase tremendously as you learn how to correctly handle biblical truths and gain an awareness of interpretative and theological challenges. As you wrestle through theological concepts, you will be preparing the way to bring life-changing truths to your church and community.

Learn to understand Scripture and evaluate competing claims to truth as you formulate biblically correct and culturally sensitive evangelistic methods. You will be better prepared to interact with cultural, theological and hermeneutical challenges as you serve within your local church and in other ministry settings.

The Biblical Apologetics concentration within this fully accredited, 30-credit-hour, online master of arts degree will prepare you to evaluate various apologetic approaches from a comprehensive Christian theological worldview. You’ll also gain an awareness of interpretative, theological and philosophical challenges.

You have a passion for spreading the gospel through planting new churches or revitalizing established ones. Through theoretical and experiential learning, the Church Planting & Renewal concentration prepares you for vocational church planting, both in your own culture and cross-culturally as a launch pastor or team member. Learn how to start biblically sound and culturally relevant healthy churches that will grow and start new churches.

The Church Planting and Renewal concentration within this fully accredited, 36-credit-hour, online master of arts degree combines online courses with field-based ministry. Your mentored apprenticeship will be completed through a creative partnership with seasoned church planters and planting churches, overseen by Baptist Bible Seminary’s church planting director. You’ll construct a biblical foundation and practical rationale for growing Christ-centered congregations as you develop crucial leadership skills and critically evaluate contemporary church-planting methods.

The 15-credit core of the Master of Arts program will establish your foundational knowledge of God’s Word:

Your study of biblical Greek and New Testament books will develop your exegetical skills to help you communicate the Gospels and Epistles in an accurate, meaningful and relevant way. Interacting with the original texts of the New Testament will provide you with intimate knowledge of the Scriptures that brings Scripture to life in exciting ways. You will be equipped with a deeper understanding of the New Testament and the ability to communicate it well to your church and community.

The New Testament concentration within this fully accredited, 30-credit-hour, online master of arts degree will equip you with a deeper understanding of the New Testament for various ministries.

The 15-credit core of the Master of Arts program will establish your foundational knowledge of God’s Word:

The 39-credit-hour Biblical Languages program immerses you in a full study of both Hebrew and Greek, equipping you to reach your career and ministry goals. You will benefit from a rigorous study of the biblical languages as it prepares you for ministries including communication, Bible translation and various publishing opportunities. 

The Biblical Languages concentration within this fully accredited, online master of arts degree will develop your exegetical skills for accurate, meaningful and relevant communication of God’s first testament, the Gospels and Epistles. Interacting with the original texts of the Old and New Testament will provide you with intimate knowledge of the Scriptures that brings God’s Word to life in exciting ways. As a graduate, you will be able to bring this excitement to those in your church and community.
