New Interim Dean Named At Baptist Bible Seminary

New Interim Dean Named At Baptist Bible Seminary

Published April 25, 2016

Baptist Bible Seminary, a division of Clarks Summit University, just announced a transition in its leadership. Dr. Mike Stallard, Seminary Dean since 2008, recently accepted a position with The Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry, Inc. in Bellmawr, New Jersey, and will be moving to that new opportunity this summer. Dr. Wayne Slusser, currently the assistant dean at BBS, has been named Interim Dean and will assume that role at the close of the current semester in May.

Dr. James Lytle, President of CSU, stated, “It is with regret that we accept the resignation of Dr. Stallard. He is one of the leading theological scholars in this nation and he has served faithfully at Baptist Bible Seminary for 22 years. We will miss his commitment to our mission and our students, and we wish him well in his new endeavors with Friends of Israel.”

Dr. Slusser assumes the mantle of leading the Seminary during the University’s search for a new full-time dean. He joined the BBS faculty as a professor of Greek and the New Testament in 2015 after a profitable teaching and administrative ministry in Missouri. He holds degrees from the University of Oklahoma, Baptist Bible Graduate School of Theology (in Springfield, Missouri) and has a Ph.D. from Baptist Bible Seminary in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Melissa, along with their two sons, are currently active in the Clarks Summit community and are members at Heritage Baptist Church.

Dr. William Higley, Vice President for Academics, will work alongside of Dr. Lytle and the University’s Board of Trustees to search for a new Dean for the Seminary.

Among other strategic leadership initiatives at Baptist Bible Seminary, Dr. Stallard was highly involved in the inception of the Seminary’s Ph.D. program, and he has directed that degree program at BBS since 2000. The doctoral programs at BBS provide quality academic rigor balanced with a commitment to global ministry leadership. He has also been actively involved in a community outreach endeavor in downtown Scranton, called “Mission Scranton,” and was instrumental in the launch of New Life Baptist Church in Scranton.
