Ministry Highlights

Centershot has been going well! Our last meeting was the largest attendance we’ve had thus far, with a total of 25 unbelievers in attendance. We even made the news on a local TV station! It’s pretty great how God has been putting us out there and has been bringing us more people!

I was able to have my first session training others for website maintenance! As of now I’m not the only one who knows how to access our website and make changes! The grand total of people on website maintenance is 3, still small but I’m hoping to add to that number in the coming months. It was encouraging to be able to pass on my knowledge to others, and to help other members of the body.

I was able to have a nice visit with some older members of our church this month. I’ve gotten to know 2 older sisters, and came to find out they hadn’t seen Mary Poppins! So I set up a night and we watched it! It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening, followed by a nice chat about their family and lives. I list this example of visitation as it pretty much portrays what many of the visitations I have look like; a time of fellowship with people from (or associated with) our church, and being able to learn more about them and their lives, along with praying for them (or for one another). Building into the body of Christ is incredibly important, and it is incredibly encouraging.

Key Prayer Requests

A member of our church has a bad foot infection. Through the past few surgeries the infection has spread resulting in half of her foot being taken off. Please pray that this infection won’t spread further in this woman’s body.

With the summer quickly approaching, plans for VBS and other ministry events need to begin. There is a lot of choices to be made, and some things will have to take higher priorities than others. Please pray for discernment with the planning our church does for the coming months that we utilize our time and finances wisely.

Our Sportsmen Ministry is starting to expand! We will be looking into different ways that we can host events for those in the hunting scene for a time of recreation, fellowship, and evangelism. We will be having a banquet in March, so along with the planning, please keep this new ministry in prayer, that God will allow us to reach the local community through the life skill of hunting.

In remembering our leaders, please continue to pray for our Pastor and all of our church officers. Our church may be established but we still need to grow, and the need for learning and growth never goes away with age. Many of our church leaders are learning new things, and there are people who are new to the roles and are serving for the first time “officially.” Please do keep them all in prayer, as functioning in their roles as leaders isn’t an easy thing, but we are blessed to have so many of them willingly step up and offer their gifts to the glory of our God, so rejoice over them in your prayers as well!

Prominent Lessons

In watching a video series called The 7 Laws of the Teacher by Howard Hendricks, I was reminded of the importance of teach-ability. I will never be “too old” to learn. In fact I have to fight this mentality of “arrival,” that I have adequate knowledge enough! It was challenging to hear that as a teacher, I need to stir up my listeners to learning and to growth. It’s not an easy thing to do, and with older listeners I have to be careful to treat them the way God wants me to treat them, with respect.

Another lesson learned from Howard Hendricks series was the need to develop or identify your passion. What is it that motivates me, that moves me and gets me fired up! At one point in my life it was preaching, although I had wrong motives back then. Throughout my 4 years here at BBS, God has shown me my gifts, and what I am good at (and sometimes not so good at!). He has taught me that first and foremost my top passion should be living to please Him (2 Cor. 5:9). Along with that, He has shown me that I have a passion for people, to know them and share life with them. So with these passions, He has been impressing on my mind to think how I can best follow and walk in these areas, and to do them with all of my heart, soul, and strength.
