CSU Alumnus Writes on a National Platform

CSU Alumnus Writes on a National Platform

Published December 19, 2016

Social media has grown to be a resounding megaphone for people to voice their opinion. A Clarks Summit University two-time alumnus and current Baptist Bible Seminary doctoral student, Pastor Ryan Day communicates his Christ-centered faith through writings on contemporary topics and issues for LifeZette, which is shared on social media platforms that reach over 1 million followers.

LifeZette is a news, opinion and commentary website based in Washington D.C. founded by Laura Ingraham, a conservative commentator, national radio host and Fox News contributor. After reaching out to LifeZette to be a freelance writer for the FaithZette section, Day’s first article was published in September 2016; he has continued to be a monthly contributor.

Day says, “I was excited about adding my voice to the national conversation on issues of faith, family, theology, worldview and the Bible.” His voice in FaithZette is mixed with writers from various denominational backgrounds; he wanted to add the voice of a conservative Baptist.

Prior to this, Day wrote opinion pieces for his local newspaper in Hazleton and an article for “The Baptist Bulletin.” “Through FaithZette I am writing for a much larger audience,” says Day, “many of who are not necessarily evangelical believers. It is a tremendous opportunity to present biblical truth.”

Day’s editor sometimes assigns certain topics or issues; other times Day has the liberty to write on a topic of his choosing, such as his article “The Lost Art of ‘Thank You’” that was published around Thanksgiving.

One of Day’s most recent articles, “The Christmas Carol Fact Check,” was picked up by Fox News and is running on their website, in addition to FaithZette.

Day is grateful for CSU and BBS for preparing him for his writing ministry and full-time lead pastor position at Grace Baptist Church in Hazelton, where he has served for the past 17 years. The relationship with CSU began back in 1989 when he attended the Teen Leadership Conference. There, he remembers seeing, “firsthand that CSU was a school that was passionately devoted to God, His Word and His church.”

Day earned his Bachelor of Science in Bible and Master of Ministry. He says, “Through the great education and training I received, I have confidence that when I write an article for FaithZette—it will be saturated with biblical truth and a Christian world-view that is right on target.” He is currently studying to earn his Doctor of Ministry at BBS.

Fun Fact

Ryan Day and his wife Heather met in Dr. Rembert Carter’s world civilization class at CSU. They named their fifth son after him, Carter Day.
