ROB GREEN PENS TYING THE KNOT

Rob Green is a two-time alumnus of Baptist Bible Seminary, earning both his M.Div and Ph.D. Green’s book, Tying the Knot: A Premarital Guide to a Strong and Lasting Marriage [https://store.faithlafayette.org/] pulls from his education in studying God’s Word and his wealth of experience in counseling.

“I learned, and I hope it shines through in the book, to be a thoughtful and careful expositor of the Word,” Green says. “Ultimately the things I write do not matter. It is the Word of the Lord that stands forever.”

Green is the pastor of counseling and seminary ministries at Faith Church in Lafayette, Indiana, as well as an instructor and counselor at Faith Biblical Counseling Ministries. He is a member of the board of the Biblical Counseling Coalition and he is the author of counseling mini-books.

In a culture where successful marriages are on the decline, Green has a “desire to help engaged couples prepare for their marriage. I remind them that I care a little about their wedding day, but I care a lot more about the 50 years they will have after that day.”

Tying the Knot offers a realistic, hopeful and applicable model of a Christ-centered marriage for couples who are preparing for a lifetime together. The book is a nine-session study that walks couples through many issues in marriage and explains how that can be resolved with Christ at the center of the marriage.

Borrowing words from another alumnus—Bob Kellemen, who is the author of Gospel-Centered Counseling and Gospel Conversations, “Rob Green embeds the words, “with Jesus as the center of your life” into the title of each chapter. Marital love, problem solving, roles and expectations, communication, finances, community and intimacy can all be addressed with self as the center (solution-focused) or with Jesus as the center (gospel-centered and soul-u-tion-focused). Whether you’re a pastor, counselor, marriage mentor, premarital couple or married couple, Tying the Knot can be a valuable tool to join marriages to the cross. From now on, this is the book I will recommend for premarital and marital counseling.”
