Baptist Bible Seminary’s Assistant Dean

Scholarship in the Classroom

Slusser (’12) teaches at all levels of study at CSU, from undergraduate to doctoral courses. Slusser earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Biblical Studies with a New Testament concentration from Baptist Bible Seminary. His master’s degrees are from Baptist Bible Theological Seminary in Springfield, Missouri, and his undergraduate degree is from the University of Oklahoma. His days as a Christian high school math and Bible teacher display his love for kids and the passion he has for teaching. Prior to coming to CSU, he taught New Testament and Greek at Baptist Bible Theological Seminary for 14 years and served as dean of their seminary for four years. He was part of a team church plant in Ozark, Missouri, where he served as co-pastor.

Influence on the Field

A former soccer player, Slusser previously coached his sons and now enjoys his role as head coach of CSU’s women’s soccer team. Coming into his second season, his goal is to help the student-athletes grow. “I plan to be intentional about it and surround myself with people who are going to keep me accountable for the intentionality of the players’ growth,” he says. He has had a profound impact on many of the students he has coached. Senior Emily Howell says, “I love that he brings passion to our pursuit of greater godliness and athleticism.”

Service to Others

As a member of Heritage Baptist Church, Slusser has taught adult Bible classes and serves as a deacon. Former BBS professor Dr. Rod Decker established NTresources.com, which is maintained by Slusser to offer study resources and personal insights. Slusser is also starting a video series for the site. He explains, “Greek for a Week is a weekly video resource provided for those who want to learn, retain or grow their knowledge of New Testament Greek.” The two- to three-minute video provides translation of a Greek text and a grammatical point beneficial for interpretation.
