Discounts and Free Class for Alumni

Published September 25, 2017

The next online session begins October 23, and CSU graduates can take advantage of a few gifts in the form of discounts and a free class!

Program Advantages

This fall session is one of five online, eight-week sessions offered annually. Students pursuing an associate, bachelor’s or master’s degree can begin in any of these sessions, without having to wait for the formal start of a typical academic year. Flexible options fit the learner’s schedule, allowing them to keep up with their current commitments while reaching educational goals.

“Flexibility is one of the biggest advantages of learning online, but CSU is especially good at building relationships with our students,” explains online instructor Diane Lytle. “We are actively engaged in discussions. We give effective feedback on assignments, pray for individual student needs and know our students by name.”

Alumni Discount

To show appreciation for CSU alumni (those who have completed at least 30 credits of undergraduate study at CSU), an alumni discount is available for all master’s and doctoral programs. The university initiated the discount to help alumni take the next step in their education and reach their professional goals in today’s competitive job market.

Goal-Oriented Programs

The core classes in every CSU undergraduate degree build leadership skills through a biblical worldview. Classes in the student’s major deliver essential career skills. Electives provide customization, so students can reach specific individual goals.

CSU’s master’s degrees take career preparation through a biblical framework to a higher level. A range of programs opens up more professional opportunities and equips students for more significant service for Christ.

CSU’s online enhanced doctoral programs are designed to prepare men and women for careers and ministries that require the serious study of Scripture.

Free Class!

CSU bachelor’s and master’s graduates who are not already enrolled and actively studying at CSU have the opportunity to take a practical, eight-week online course this fall—tuition-free! “Women in Christian Ministries” will be offered as a gift to a limited number of alumnae, who can earn three undergraduate or graduate credits.

Instructor Diane Lytle says, “Whether you are married or single, in vocational ministry or in the workplace, an older woman or a younger woman, this course is for you. Be prepared to learn from other women in the course and to share your own experiences as we meet over a virtual cup of coffee to encourage each other wherever we are!”

The course will give attention to a biblical philosophy of women in ministry in the home, workplace, local church, parachurch organizations and society. Course textbooks are all available in print or as e-books, and some are available as audiobooks. Students may use whatever format they prefer. Videos, podcasts and other online resources are utilized to facilitate learning.

“Taking a traditional on-campus course is impossible for many women because of our schedules at home, at our jobs and in our ministries,” admits Lytle. “One of online learning’s biggest advantages is its flexibility. Our courses are set up so that you can jump in any time, whether it is at 1 p.m. or 1 a.m.!”

Meet the Instructor

Lytle has taught on-campus collegiate courses in the USA and South Africa. Over the past nine years, she has taught over 500 undergraduate and graduate students in courses like Inductive Bible Study and The Gospel of John. She explains, “I love watching the ‘lightbulb’ turn on as my students grow in their knowledge of God and the Bible and make personal application to their lives.”

As the director of CSU’s annual LYFE Women’s Conference for the past 10 years, she is acutely aware of the needs of Christian women today. “I’ve lost count of the times I have heard our ladies say that the conference is the spiritual highlight of their year. That’s not surprising, since Titus 2 tells us that the older women should train the younger women.” Lytle adds, “I’m hoping and praying that a lot of that will happen in this course too—it’s biblical!”

Interested alumnae should apply for the free class by October 9, so they have time to purchase textbooks and get oriented to CSU’s online learning management system before the course begins October 23.

Alumni can take advantage of the alumni discount during any session. Discounts are also available for Christian workers, veterans and members of the U.S. Armed Forces and international students, among others. Check out the full list of discounts here.
