Watch the 2017 Awards Chapel undergraduate ceremony now!

At Clarks Summit University’s annual Awards Chapel, a record-setting total of $151,250 was given to 142 undergraduate residential students.

At least 40 percent of all students in every residential undergraduate degree program received an award during the ceremony. These awards help students pursue a quality biblical education, equipping them to serve Christ in a variety of careers and ministries worldwide.

Thankful Reception

The ceremony began with a welcome by Dr. Jim Lytle followed by prayer and scripture reading by Dr. David Lackey and professor Sherrie Holloway, respectively. Among the awards presented was the Office for Student Development (OSD) Citizenship Award presented by Roddy Hannah, vice president of student development, to Drew Bundy and Stacie Brandt for their selfless service to the CSU student body.

The ceremony concluded with the closing remarks of Dr. Lytle, a recognition of parents in the audience and a parting song led by Dr. David Harris. Following the ceremony, some recipients had the honor of meeting the people behind the scholarship they received at a special reception.

Gretchen Carter, daughter of the late CSU professor Dr. Rembert Byrd Carter, was present for the reception. She says, “We give because our family knows from past experiences the value of giving so that students can have an education helping them in determining God’s will for their lives.”

Kira Seboe, recipient of the Dr. Rembert Carter Endowment, says, “Through receiving this scholarship I see how God is providing for my future.”

Christine Treubig, recipient of the Ronald C. Hine Memorial Scholarship, adds, “This scholarship really helps my whole family and helps me pursue what I want to do as a child of God.”

They are not only investing into students, but also into these students’ future families, ministries and jobs. It truly is a gift that continues to give. I pray that our CSU students remember that this is not only an amount of money that lowers their school bill, but a gift from someone who believes in them and prays for them.”

Seminary Awards

Earlier in the morning the Baptist Bible Seminary held their annual Awards Chapel, giving financial awards to students, many who study online.

Second-year seminary student Josiah Brondyke was a recipient of both the Baker Book Award and the Arthur W. and Dorothy Glidewell Scholarship. He notes, “These awards are a part of God’s constant reminders to me that He will supply all my needs.”

Seminary Student Isaac Jack, recipient of the Robert and Gloria Gromacki Scholarship, the Arthur W. and Dorthy Glidewell Scholarship and the Tyndale House Publishers Award, adds, “These awards and scholarships mean a lot to me because they show God’s continuing provision for me to be here at BBS. To the donors, I want to express my gratitude not only for the benefit that it provides me directly, but also the expression of God’s work in their lives that it represents as they bless students.”

Thank You!

The CSU community is grateful to the donors and businesses that have given funds to benefit students now and in the future. Business donors this year include Lindsey Equipment, Sprint Print, DeLeon’s Chiropractic Health Center, Arendt’s Outdoor Services and McGrail, Merkel, Quinn & Associates, P.C.
