Clarks Summit University Awarded Grant

Clarks Summit University Awarded Grant

Published January 6, 2017

Clarks Summit University was recently awarded a grant from the Herr Fund of the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation. The $50,000 grant is to be directed to the Summit Fund, which supports scholarships awarded to CSU undergraduate students.

CSU aims to help students reduce their indebtedness and remain below the national average of $30,000 in student loan debt upon graduation. One of the means to help students achieve this goal is through grants and gifts to the Summit Fund. These gifts come in a large range of amounts, from individual donors to businesses and foundations.

The $25,000 average indebtedness for CSU graduates is below the national average. The average scholarship awarded to students annually is $10,000.

The 2016 grant from the Herr Fund of the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation will enable five students to reduce the total cost of their 2016-2017 tuition bill by 40 percent. By reducing the indebtedness of these students, the grant gives them the opportunity to seek meaningful employment upon graduation or pursue further education.

Clarks Summit University is grateful for the generous support of the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation and all those who give to the Summit Fund.
